Paul Brando

Paul Brando (born February 16, 1894 ; † September 20, 1978 ) was a German SPD politician and member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

Paul Brando worked as a worker and driver. He was a member of the SPD from 1912 and during the Weimar Republic sat for his party in 1928/29 and 1931/32 as a city councilor in Altona (belonged to Schleswig-Holstein until 1937 ). He was also a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Provincial Parliament until 1933 .

During the time of National Socialism he lost his job for political reasons in 1933 and was unemployed. Like many other Social Democrats , he was also detained for a time. He was later able to find a job as an insurance clerk.

After the Second World War he became managing director of the allotment garden association in Hamburg in 1945 . With the first freely elected Hamburg citizenship after the war, he was able to become a member of the Hamburg citizenship for the Social Democrats in October 1946. He only remained a member of parliament for the first electoral term until 1949 .
