Paul C. Rosenbloom

Paul Charles Rosenbloom (* 1920 in Portsmouth , Virginia , † April 2005 ) was an American mathematician .

Life

Rosenbloom studied at the University of Pennsylvania (during this time he became Putnam Fellow in 1941 after participating in the competition of the same name) and he received his doctorate from Stanford University under Gabor Szegö in 1944 ( On sequences of polynomials, especially sections of power series ). He was a professor of mathematics at Brown University , Syracuse University (around 1951), the University of Minnesota (mid to late 1950s, where he was director of the Minnesota School Mathematics Center in 1959/60) and at the Teacher's College of Columbia University (from the 1960s to retirement).

Act

He dealt with analysis (e.g. rediscovery of the fixed point theorem for the iteration of whole functions by Pierre Fatou in 1948), especially function theory and differential equations, logic and mathematics education.

In 1946 he was a Guggenheim Fellow.
