Paul Carey Bauhof , also known as Paul Carey for short , (* December 9, 1956 - May 10, 2019 in Detroit ) was an American jazz and blues musician ( guitar ) who was active in the Detroit music scene.

Bauhof graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1975 and from then on lived in Detroit's East Side. In the local music scene he was known as a co-founder of the formation Sun Messengers , with which two albums were created in the 1980s. He also toured outside the United States with Detroit blues musicians such as Thornetta Davis , Alberta Adams , Joe Weaver , Johnnie Bassett , Curtis Sumter, and Eddie Kirkland . For many years he also played with RJ Spangler and with his son, the drummer Max Bauhof. In the field of jazz he was involved in three recording sessions between 1982 and 1990. Most recently he led the Paul Carey Organ Trio , with Mark Loduca Sr. ( Hammond organ ) and Jason Vanbiervliet (guitar).
