Paul Collins (athlete)

Paul Collins ( Paul Albert Collins; born July 22, 1926 in the London Borough of Lewisham , United Kingdom ; † January 31, 1995 in Taunton , United Kingdom) was a Canadian marathon runner .

In 1948 he came in 13th place at the Boston Marathon and fifth in the Canadian Championship. The following year he was tenth in Boston and Canadian champion.

In 1950 he was sixth in the British Empire Games in Auckland in 2:45:02 h; its placement over six miles is not recorded. In the summer he defended his national championship title in 2:45:11 h, and in 1951 he set his personal best in fourth in the Yonkers Marathon with 2:40:43 h.

In 1952 he was Canadian champion in 2:45:02 h and qualified for the Olympic Games in Helsinki , where he finished 40th in 2:45:58 h.
