Paul Eduard Starcke

Paul Eduard Starcke (born October 14, 1837 in Kolberg , † August 17, 1885 in Berlin ) was a German military doctor .

He studied from 1856 to 1860 as a pupil of the medical and surgical Friedrich Wilhelm Institute at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1861 he became an assistant doctor, in 1866 a medical officer and in 1873 a senior medical officer. He took part in the wars that fell during this period.

From 1870 he was a teacher of health care at the Prussian War Academy . From 1871 to 1883 he was also head of the surgical department at the Charité . In 1884 he was given the title of professor and in 1885 the character of general physician .

His publications include surgical writings, most of which appeared in the Charité annals . He also made an outstanding contribution to the selection of footwear for the foot soldiers.

The surgeon Richard Poelchen (1857–1947) is one of Paul Eduard Starcke's students .
