Paul Edwards (jazz musician)

Paul Thomas Edwards (* 1917 , † 15. April 2008 in Providence (Utah) ) was an American jazz - drummer .

Edwards played early on in a vaudeville show where he performed with his mother in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio . At the age of 16 he had his first professional gigs in a restaurant; he also worked as a musician in local theaters and radio stations. At the age of 36 he moved to New Orleans, where he played for two years with George Girard , with whose band he made his first recordings in 1955. In the following years he also worked with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain ; he also appeared as a studio musician on television shows by Johnny Carson and Bob Hope . In 1978 he moved to Richmond; most recently he lived in Utah with his wife. In the field of jazz he was involved in 27 recording sessions between 1955 and 1988. a. also with Tom Brown , Joe Capraro , Godfrey Hirsch and Plato Smith .
