Paul Egloff (born October 15, 1959 ) is a former Swiss ski jumper .

Career

Egloff first started the Four Hills Tournament in 1978/79 in an international ski jumping competition, but remained unsuccessful and usually only ended up in the back of the list. In 1979 he was included in the squad for the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup and on December 30, 1979, he competed in his first World Cup competition in Oberstdorf . As in the previous year, however, he was unable to achieve any notable successes at the 1979/80 Four Hills Tournament . In the first World Cup after the tour in Zakopane , however, he was able to secure his first World Cup points with 14th place in the first competition and 11th place in the second competition. With the seven points gained, he finished the 1979/80 World Cup season in 80th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , Egloff reached 43rd place on the normal hill and 47th place on the large hill. The start of the 1980/81 World Cup season was just as unsuccessful as the start of the previous season. For example, he was only able to jump to the back positions in the 1980/81 Four Hills Tournament and even completely skipped the jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Once again, however, he was able to win points in the jumping after the tour. So he landed in the points in both competitions in ski flying in Ironwood . In the second competition he was even able to achieve the highest individual placement in the World Cup with 4th place. At the end of the season Egloff finished 49th in the overall World Cup ranking.

In the 1981/82 season he appeared again as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 . After jumping again unsuccessfully, he ended his active ski jumping career after the tour.
