Paul Evans , born Paul R. Evans II , (born May 20, 1931 in Newtown , Pennsylvania , † March 7, 1987 Nantucket Island , Massachusetts ) was an American silver, gold and iron blacksmith, sculptor and furniture designer .

life and career

After his artistic craft basic training, among others in 1950 at the Philadelphia Textile Institute In Philadelphia , Pennsylvania Evans received in 1952 a scholarship to the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills , Michigan . The 1950s started in a garage in New Hope , Pennsylvania, and then moved his studio / workshop to Plumsteadville , Pennsylvania, where he employed up to 35 people. There, in collaboration with the Directional Furniture company (today Directional, Inc. ), copper chests and later cupboards and sideboards with sculptured front and side panels and other furnishings and furniture, e.g. B.
