Paul Gürtler

Paul Anton Gürtler (born May 9, 1905 in Allschwil ; † September 9, 1982 there ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Gürtler graduated from the Realgymnasium in Basel . He then studied law at the University of Basel and received his doctorate in 1931. In 1936 he was admitted to the bar . From 1936 to 1942 he was a clerk at the Arlesheim District Court . From 1942 to 1950 he worked as a public prosecutor for the upper three districts. From 1950 to 1967 he was a member of the government of the canton of Basel-Landschaft and was responsible for the justice and police departments.

Gürtler was a member of the Catholic People's Party and the Christian Social Association. With the law on the organization of state and district administration from 1958 and with the introduction of administrative jurisdiction in 1959, he brought about an expansion of the rule of law .
