Paul Gerhardt (athlete)
Paul Gerhardt (born December 6, 1901 in Hanover , † August 12, 1956 in Gießen ) was a German marathon runner .
At the German Marathon Championship in 1926 he was seventh.
In 1928 he won the German qualifying race for the Olympic Games on a 40 km route in 2:33:42 hours. At the Olympic marathon in Amsterdam he came in 50th place in 3:09:30 h.
In 1934 he came second in the German Championships in Nuremberg in 2:36:50 h on a short distance. At the European Athletics Championships in Turin , he did not reach the goal.
In 1935 in Berlin he was again German runner-up in 2:41:53 h.
Paul Gerhardt was a locksmith by trade and later became a police officer . He started first for FV Weilburg and then for the police SV Berlin .
