Heilenberg (Dornbirnisch: Holaberg) refers to a settlement in Dornbirn Oberdorf ( 670  m above sea level ) with over 40 houses and a large parcel of land in the same place. In the middle of the 19th century, only six farms could be found here.

Topography, geography, location and traffic

Heilenberg was originally located on an important connection route over the Schwende into the Bregenz Forest to Schwarzenberg , before Bödelestraße and Achrainstraße or Schwarzachtobelstraße (L 7) were built or expanded. Below Heilenberg is Watzenegg , above Palmern . In " Schematismus für Tirol und Vorarlberg ", 1839, Heilenberg is mentioned as an independent hamlet and part of Dornbirn. Also in the " Provinzial-Handbuch von Tirol und Vorarlberg for the year 1847 ". Heilenberg is already growing together with the Watzenegg below to form a uniform settlement area, so that many of the original historical settlement boundaries will soon be barely recognizable.

The settlement, about 2.5 km away from the center of Dornbirn, can be reached via Watzenegg with normal motor vehicles .

Waters

The Buchholzgraben flows east of Heilenberg and flows south into the Steinebach .

Craft, trade

Heilenberg has not developed any significant commercial infrastructure in the Dornbirn municipality. Agriculture still dominates here.

religion

In 1696, the married couple Michael and Maria Mohr , who were probably from Schauner and who lived on Heilenberg, donated a wayside shrine in honor of the parish priest St. Martin and the cattle patron St. Wendelin. As was customary at the time, they were shown on the donor's picture with their five children. According to the tax register of 1715, Michael Mohr was the richest man in the entire Hatler district at that time (Stadtbuch 1/165).
