Paul Ginsborg

Paul Anthony Ginsborg (* 1945 in London , England ) is a British- Italian historian best known for his books on the recent history of Italy.

Life

Ginsborg became a fellow at Churchill College , Cambridge . There he taught at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Further teaching activities followed at the University of Siena and the University of Turin . Since 1992 he has been teaching European Modern History at the University of Florence .

In Italy he became known to the general public through his collaboration with Francesco Pardi in the Girotondi movement in 2002. This movement flourished for a few months in opposition to Silvio Berlusconi and his politics, but disappeared after a few months from the political Stage.

Ginsborg's History of Italy from 1943 to 1988, published in 1989, is considered a "milestone in contemporary Italian history".
