Paul Girard Smith

Paul Girard Smith , also Paul Gerald Smith , (born September 14, 1894 in Omaha , Nebraska , † April 4, 1968 in San Diego , California ) was an American screenwriter, actor and director .

Life

Smith wrote his own musicals at the age of 10 . During World War I he was stationed in a United States Marine Corps in Germany. In 1919 he returned to the USA and from then on wrote screenplays with great success. Smith came to Hollywood through Buster Keaton to co- write The General . Between 1926 and 1955 he co-wrote the screenplays for over 90 feature films.

Smith was married to Mary Alice Lundgren and had 4 children.
