Paul Goosmann (born December 12, 1906 in Bremen ; † May 21, 1992 in Bremen) was a German educator , trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Goosmann was born in Bremen Neustadt . After attending grammar school on Hamburger Strasse , he attended the Bremen teachers' seminar from 1920 to 1926 . He then worked as a primary school teacher in the Walkemühle rural education center near Melsungen . He passed the second teacher examination in 1927 and then worked as a teacher in Bremen; 1927/28 at the rural school on Lehester Deich and from 1928 to 1933 at the experimental school on Helgolander Strasse.

After the National Socialists came to power, Goosmann was suspended from work as a teacher in July 1933 on the basis of the law for the restoration of the civil service. In the following years he initially hired himself as a sales representative, then later as a teacher in a sports club in Bremen and at a private school. From 1940 to 1942 he worked again as a teacher in the public service. From 1942 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . In 1944 he was seriously injured in the war.

Goosmann returned to Bremen in September 1945 and was a lecturer from 1945 to 1974, later professor in teacher training, in the educational seminar , at the University of Education in Bremen and at the University of Bremen, which was founded in 1971 . In addition, from 1946 he was chairman of the Bremen Teachers Association (VBLL). As such, he took part in the founding of the Education and Science Union (GEW) in 1947/48 , of which he headed the Bremen regional association until 1955.

politics

Goosmann had been a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) since 1924 , joined the International Socialist Combat League (ISK) in 1925 and joined the SPD. After 1945 he was again a member of the SPD and from 1955 to 1959 a member of the Bremen Parliament .
