Paul Hiepko

Paul Hubertus Hiepko (born December 16, 1932 in Quedlinburg ; † July 2, 2019 in Potsdam ) was a German botanist . For many years he was director of the Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin (BGBM) and played a key role in the redesign and modernization of the herbarium of this institution.

He was also co-editor of the journals Botanical Yearbooks for Systematics, Plant History and Plant Geography and Bibliotheca Botanica for many years . Hiepko was the expert on the Opiliaceae and Olacaceae plant families . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Hiepko ".
