Paul Koppelberg

Paul Koppelberg CSSp (born July 27, 1912 in Hückeswagen ; † November 30, 1981 in Knechtsteden ) was a German Roman Catholic religious . He was the "inventor" of the carol singers campaign .

Life

Paul Koppelberg joined the religious community of Spiritans .

In 1958 Koppelberg took over the management of the Papal Missionswerk der Kinder in Germany, from which the children's mission organization “ Die Sternsinger ” emerged, and in 1959 revived the carol-singing campaign, which has been based in Germany since the 17th century. As founding president, he initiated the magazine “Sternsinger und Mission”, the predecessor of today's Sternsinger magazine, and the magazine “Heilige Kindheit - Schule und Mission”, the predecessor of the magazine “grenzenlos”. In 1980 Arnold Poll was his successor.

He was also elected founding chairman of the Working Group for Development Aid (AGEH) in 1959. In 1963 Heinrich Köppler became his successor.

Paul Koppelberg was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg in 1978 and was appointed to the Papal Church by Bishop Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy , on December 9, 1978 in the Imperial Cathedral of St. Bartholomew in Frankfurt am Main Lay order invested.

Father Koppelberg was buried in the Knechtsteden cemetery.
