Career

Lyons was active as part of a Youth Training Scheme from 1993 in the youth division of Manchester United , playing alongside later national players such as Phil Neville , David Johnson and Phil Mulryne . In August 1994 he signed a professional contract with Manchester, but until his departure a year later he played no role in the first team and did not take part in the successful finals of the FA Youth Cup 1994/95. In July 1995 he came to the fourth division AFC Rochdale for a trial training and was part of the squad from September on a non-contract basis.

In the summer of 1996 he received a short-term professional contract, but was no longer part of the matchday squad and left the club during the season. His career was continued at Radcliffe Borough , with whom he rose at the end of the 1996/97 season as a relay champion from Division One in the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League . After direct relegation, he left Radcliffe in the summer of 1998 and joined the club Bacup Borough , which was playing in the North West Counties League . At least from 2002 to 2005 he played for Unsworth in the Manchester area on a local level .
