Paul Manasse

Paul Manasse (born March 14, 1866 in Naugard in Western Pomerania , † September 27, 1927 in Würzburg ) was a German laryngologist .

Manasse grew up in a banking family and studied medicine at the universities of Tübingen , Berlin and Strasbourg . In Tübingen he became a connoisseur of the Scotland team . In contrast to his namesake Paul Manasse, who was born in Schlepzig on February 25, 1867 and received his doctorate in November 1891 with the dissertation The Cure of Pulmonary Tuberculosis through Dietary Hygienic Treatment in Institutions and Spas at the University of Freiburg, he received his doctorate at the Kaiser -Wilhelms University in Strasbourg as early as 1890 (cf. Isidor Fischer, 1962, Vol. 2, p. 878) with the dissertation on lecithin in the cholesterol of red blood cells .

He was assistant at the Pathological Institute of the Ear Clinic and at the Medical Clinic in Strasbourg with Abraham Kuhn . Following study trips to Vienna and Berlin , he completed his habilitation in Strasbourg in 1896 for ear medicine. In 1901 he became director of the ear clinic there. In 1902 he was appointed associate professor of laryngology and in 1911 full professor. In 1919 he followed a call to Würzburg . He set up a clinic at the Luitpold Hospital there . He was, together with Wilhelm Lange and Karl Grünberg (1875-1932), editor of the manual of the pathological anatomy of the human ear (1917, two volumes). Max Meyer is one of his students .
