Paul Martin (born September 13, 1958 in Kufstein , Tyrol ; actually Johannes Paul Martin Zimmer ) is an Austrian writer . He has published several detective novels and writes poetry and short stories. When he started his writing career, he used his middle and third name as a pseudonym .

Life

Childhood and youth

Johannes Paul Martin Zimmer was born as the son of the textile machine manufacturer Rudolf Johannes Paul Zimmer and his wife, Claudia Elisabeth Zimmer, née Heyberger, from Alsace, in Kufstein, Tyrol. Only a few months after his birth, the family moved to Klagenfurt , Carinthia, where the father built a machine factory.

Professional career

Paul Martin's older brother Roland Zimmer had already emigrated to the USA in the early 1980s and had taken over the local branch of his father's company, Zimmer Machinery Corporation as managing director, and later as owner. He caught up with Paul Martin to systematically expand the local market across the board.

Writer and literary official

In 2011 Paul Martin attributed his first crime novel, which was published in Marchtrenk in Marchtrenk by the Upper Austrian crime publisher Federfrei . “The betting mafia” and “The Order” followed in the following year. Paul Martin then moved to Emons Verlag in Cologne. In 2014 the "Kärntner Rache" appeared and in 2015 "Kärntner Killer".

Paul Martin has been involved in the general literature business since 2013 . Together with his fellow writer Roland Zingerle, he founded the Carinthian Writing School , of which he is the administrative director.

Together with fellow writer Gerald Eschenauer, he founded the Buch13 association , which organizes readings for young authors every month.

He joined the board of the Klagenfurt Group . This association particularly supported young and unknown authors, but was dissolved at the beginning of 2015 due to differences among the board members.

In 2014 he organized and hosted the first Carinthian crime festival together with Roland Zingerle .

Paul Martin is a member of the largest German-speaking crime fiction association Das Syndikat , is on the board of the platform of Austrian crime authors and a member of the IG Authors and Literary Mechana.
