Paul McHugh (born July 12, 1967 in Darwen , Blackburn ) is a retired British cyclist and 14-time British track cycling champion .

Athletic career

McHugh won the British junior sprint title in 1984 . In the same year he also won the championship among the amateurs . This was followed by three more sprint titles among the amateurs by 1987. Among the professional drivers , he was British sprint champion between 1989 and 1993 and the Keirin in 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1994 .

He represented England at the 1986 Commonwealth Games , where he was fourth in the sprint after losing to Scots Eddie Alexander in the run for third place . As a junior, he represented Great Britain at track world championships and was fifth in 1984 and fourth in the sprint in 1985.

McHughes has run a computer games , television advertising, and video effects company since 1988 .
