Paul Olaf Bodding
Paul Olaf Bodding (born November 2, 1865 in Gjøvik , Norway , † September 25, 1938 in Odense , Denmark ) was a Norwegian missionary and linguist .
Life
Paul Olaf Bodding, son of a bookseller, studied in Oslo theology , and was under the influence of Lars Olsen Skrefsrud missionary. From 1889 he worked in India for 44 years in the service of the Santal Mission , of which he succeeded Skrefsrud in 1910. Bodding translated the Bible into the Santalis language (completed in 1914) and devoted himself almost exclusively to literary and linguistic work during the last 20 years of his stay in India.
