Paul Alan Partain , stage name Paul A. Partain (born November 22, 1946 in Austin , † January 28, 2005 ), was an American actor . His best-known role was that of Franklin in the 1974 horror film Blood Court in Texas .

Life

Partain served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and on his return to the USA began working in an electronics factory during the day and in a dinner theater at night. In the fall of 1972, Partain learned that he had been fired from the factory. At the same time, the theater director asked him to audition for the role of Willy in the 1974 play Lovin 'Molly by director Sidney Lumet . The director supported Partain. This role initiated his acting activities.

Lumet introduced Partain to screenwriter and producer Kim Henkel, who wrote the script for the film Texas Chain Saw Massacre . Partain first read the role of the hitchhiker, but could not convince the director Tobe Hooper . At the director's behest, Partain read the role of Franklin and played this character in the film.

After the films Race with the Devil (1975 by Jack Starret ) in the role of Cal Mather and Rolling Thunder (1977 by John Flynn), in which he played the brother-in-law, Partain ended his film career in 1978 for the time being.

In 1994 he starred as a nurse in the film Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation . Three years later he acted as a member of the Texan Minister's militia in the film Burying Lana by Paul Bayliss. In 2003 he was seen in a small supporting role for the last time in the film The Life of David Gale by Alan Parker .

Partain also worked for about 10 years as regional sales manager at the electronics manufacturer Zenith Electronics Corporation .

Private

Partain was married to Jean E. Partain (née Britton). He died of cancer in 2005 at the age of 58.
