Michael Jackel

Michael Jäckel (born September 26, 1959 in Oberwesel ) is a German sociologist . He has been President of the University of Trier since 2011 .

Life

Jäckel studied sociology, history and political science at the University of Mainz . Between 1984 and 1987 he was a member of the scientific support commission for experiments with broadband cable in the Ludwigshafen / Vorderpfalz region, and in 1990 he received his doctorate for a thesis on cable television .

Between 1990 and 1996 he worked as a freelancer for the Brockhaus Encyclopedia , and from 1991 to 1996 as a research assistant at the University of Mainz. In 1995 he completed his habilitation at the University of Mainz.

In 2002 he was appointed to the C4 professorship for consumer and communication research at the University of Trier. From 2003 he was Vice President, from 2011 its President. In 2016 his term of office was extended. In the annual ranking `` Rector / President and Minister of Science '' of the German University Association (DHV), his work is rated by the participating DHV members of the University of Trier with an overall grade of satisfactory to sufficient (see the years 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016).
