Stefan Liebig

Stefan Liebig (born November 26, 1962 in Coburg ) is a German sociologist .

Life

From 1983 to 1991 Liebig studied Protestant theology and sociology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in Heidelberg . In 1997 he received his doctorate from the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2004 he completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

From 2005 to 2006 he was professor for sociology with a focus on empirical social research / methodology at the University of Trier , from 2006 to 2008 he was full professor for empirical social structure analysis at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg .

Since October 2008 he has held the chair for “Social Inequality and Social Structural Analysis” at the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University . He has been a member of the Council for Information Infrastructures since November 2014 and was elected its deputy chairman in November 2017. Since January 2018 he has been director of the socio-economic panel and scientific board member of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin.
