Petra Gehring

Petra Gehring (born October 8, 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German professor of philosophy .

Career

Petra Gehring studied philosophy , political science and law in Gießen , Marburg and Bochum . She completed her studies in 1988 with a master's degree . She received her doctorate in 1992 and qualified as a professor in 2000 . Research and teaching at the universities of Bochum and Hagen followed later .

Since 2002 she has been Professor of Philosophy at the TU Darmstadt .

In the 2010/2011 academic year she was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin . From 2008 to 2013 Petra Gehring was Vice President of the Technical University of Darmstadt. Since 2014 she has been a member of the Council for Information Infrastructures of the Joint Science Conference (GWK) of the federal and state governments, of which she has been chairman since November 2017. A year earlier she was a fellow of the DFG research group "Media Cultures of Computer Simulation" (MECS) at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg.

Gehring is co-editor of the yearbook technology philosophy .
