Paul Ritter (writer)

Paul Ritter (born August 3, 1887 in Kleinbrembach , Thuringia , † 1968 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) was a German farmer , NSDAP functionary and writer . He was the son-in-law of Ada and Ludwig Cramer and the brother-in-law of Ernst Ludwig Cramer .

Life

Paul Ritter emigrated to German South West Africa in 1905 and lived as a farmer in the colony until 1930 . after his return to Germany he first worked as a reporter for the Völkischer Beobachter and then as an editor for the “Deutsche Kolonialzeitung”. In the 1930s he was the main censor of the colonial writing system in the " Colonial Political Office of the NSDAP ". During the Second World War, Ritter was active as a war correspondent at the front in Finland and Norway. From 1950 until his death in 1968, Ritter was based in Johannesburg , South Africa , where he worked as an insurance broker and contract author. In addition to essays on colonial politics, Paul Ritter also published novels and short stories set in Africa .

After the end of the Second World War, Ritter’s writings U-Boots-Geist (Koehler, Leipzig 1938), Livelihoods of British world domination ( Eher , Munich 1941) and The Struggle for Earth Space (Reclam, Leipzig 1943) as well as those published by him were published in the Soviet occupation zone Unforgettable German country! (Contemporary history, Berlin 1936) and Africa speaks to you (Bergwald-Verlag, Mühlhausen 1938) put on the list of literature to be sorted out.
