Paul Henry Sackey (born November 8, 1979 in London ) is an English rugby union player who is used on the position of the outer three quarters . He is active for the English national team and for Stade Français .

Career

Sackey started rugby at the age of 17. Due to his speed, he was soon appointed to regional selection teams. His first stop outside of school was with the Bedford Blues , where he recommended himself for England's U21 selection and even took part in the World Cup for this age group.

In 2000 he moved to the London Irish in the highest professional league in England. In the same year he also made his debut for the 7-man national team. Over the next few years he achieved numerous attempts in the Premiership and was therefore also used for the England Saxons .

In 2005 he moved to city rivals London Wasps , in his first season there he ended up among the three players with the most attempts at the end of the season. In November 2006, Sackey made his senior team debut when they met the All Blacks . A week later, he scored his first international attempt against Argentina .

Due to an injury, he could not take part in the Six Nations 2007 , but he was fit again for the World Cup and was part of the regular formation. In the preliminary round he got two attempts each against Samoa and Tonga .

At the Six Nations 2008 he was one of the most successful players with three attempts in five games. The following year his form had deteriorated, which is why he has not been called up for the national team since. For the 2010/11 season he moved to France to RC Toulon , and a year later to Stade Français .
