Paul Schürch (born February 14, 1886 in Wangen bei Olten , Canton Solothurn , † December 11, 1939 in Olten ) was a Swiss painter .

biography

Paul Schürch attended school in Olten . He studied from 1906 to 1908 at the Bern University of the Arts . He then studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and completed his studies at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. From 1911 to 1921 he worked in Olten as a professor of drawing.

As a freelance artist, Paul Schürch lived in Interlaken from 1922 to 1926, in the Canton of Graubünden from 1927 to 1928 , in Misox ( Ticino ) from 1929 to 1934 , in Beckenried and Sachseln in 1935 and in Oberried on Lake Brienz in 1939 .

In the 1920s he married Maria Hess and had six children. His work includes landscape paintings , portraits and still lifes in oil, pastel or watercolor. Since 1912 he took part in numerous art exhibitions.
