Paul Schwarz (orientalist)

Paul Schwarz (born November 19, 1867 in Neisse ; † December 28, 1938 in Torgau ) was a German orientalist who taught at the University of Leipzig .

In 1893 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. in oriental languages ​​at the University of Leipzig with Albert Socin , 1896 there the habilitation for oriental languages with a thesis: Iran in the Middle Ages according to the Arab geographers . From 1896 to 1903 Schwarz was a private lecturer for Oriental languages ​​at the University of Leipzig, and from 1903 to 1937 there was an unscheduled associate professor for Oriental languages.

In November 1933, Schwarz signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler at German universities and colleges .
