Paul Stevens (bobsledder)
Francis Paul Stevens (born October 16, 1889 in Lake Placid , New York , † March 17, 1949 in Schenectady , New York) was an American bobsledder .
Life
Stevens worked at the family-owned hotel in Lake Placid, and he also sold and repaired cars. In the 1920s he was a mechanic on the team of Champ Car racing driver Ralph Mulford . However, Stevens was particularly successful as a bobsleigh driver: in 1931 and 1932 he became the American four-man bobsleigh champion. He took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics in his hometown and won the four-man silver medal, while his brothers Hubert Stevens and Curtis Stevens won the two-man bobsleigh. Together with Curtis he became an American two-man bob champion in 1935. In both world wars he served as Lieutenant Commander .
