Curtis Stevens (bobsledder)
Curtis Palmer Stevens (born June 1, 1898 in Lake Placid , New York , † November 15, 1979 in Saranac Lake , New York) was an American bobsledder and Olympic champion .
Stevens studied at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy . He ran the family hotel in Lake Placid and ran a gasoline and heating oil business there. Stevens was an excellent motorboat driver and won numerous races, including an international regatta in Cuba in 1929 . He took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics in his home town and won the gold medal in the two-man bobsleigh with his brother Hubert Stevens . Another brother, Paul Stevens , came second in the four-man bobsleigh.
