Ivan Brown
Ivan Elmore Brown (born April 17, 1908 in Keene Valley , New York , † May 22, 1963 in Hartford , Connecticut ) was an American bobsledder and Olympic champion .
Brown and his partner Alan Washbond formed one of the world's most successful two-man bobsleigh teams in the 1930s. They won the North American Championship in 1935, 1938 and 1939 and the Championship of the Amateur Athletic Union in 1934, 1938 and 1939 . They celebrated their greatest success at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , when they won the gold medal in the two-man bobsleigh. Brown later moved to Hartford, where he worked as a machinist for many years.
