Paul von Schlippenbach
Paul Freiherr von Schlippenbach (born April 20, 1869 in Olaine near Riga , † October 9, 1933 in Berlin ) was a German painter and etcher.
Paul von Schlippenbach came from the Baltic line of the Schlippenbach noble family . His father Paul Baron von Schlippenbach (1836–1915) was a Russian State Councilor.
After studying law at the University of Erlangen , which ended with a doctorate in 1896, he studied painting in Paris at the Académie Julian and with James McNeill Whistler , possibly at the Académie Carmen .
He then lived in Dresden until 1913 as a member of the Dresden Art Cooperative . In 1906 he invited Johann Walter-Kurau to Dresden. He later worked as a painter and etcher in Berlin .
