Paula Gürth

Paula Gürth (born October 18, 1908 in Kukan , Gablonz an der Neisse district , † July 22, 1974 in Potsdam ) was a German politician ( SED ) and women's functionary. She was Mayor of Luckenwalde , members of the District Day Potsdam and chairman of the District Board of Potsdam and Presidium Member of the Board of the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany (DFD).

Life

Gürth joined the workers gymnastics club "Fels" in 1928 and the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in 1930 . After the Sudetenland was occupied by German troops, she belonged to a resistance group. Gürth was arrested in 1938 and 1940 and placed under police supervision.

In 1945 Gürth moved to Luckenwalde, where she initially worked as a weaver in the woolen cloth factory. She joined the Communist Party of Germany in 1945 and became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1946. In 1948 she became an employee of the SED district leadership in Luckenwalde and in 1949 chairwoman of the district party control commission (KPKK). In 1950 she was elected mayor of the city of Luckenwalde. In 1952 she was elected chairwoman of the Luckenwalde district council . From 1953 to 1967 Gürth acted as chairwoman of the Potsdam district board of the DFD. From 1964 to 1975 she was also a member of the presidium of the DFD federal board.

From 1954 to 1971 Gürth was a member of the Potsdam District Assembly and from 1964 to 1975 he was a member of the SED district leadership in Potsdam. After her disability in 1967 she was actively involved in the Health Care Commission of the Potsdam District Assembly.
