Marold Wosnitza

Marold Sven Wosnitza (born September 7, 1965 in Saarbrücken ) is a German educational scientist , university professor and politician ( SPD ). Until the end of 2018, he was a professor at the Philosophical Faculty at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH) .

On 14 October 2018 he was in the runoff election for mayor of the city of Two Bridges selected. He took office on December 20th of that year.

Life

Wosnitza has lived in Zweibrücken in the Palatinate since he was two years old. After his diploma in educational science (1993), he was a research assistant at the University of Koblenz-Landau from 1994 to 2004 . In 1999 Wosnitza was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD and habilitation in 2006 . From 2004 on he took on substitute professorships at the PH Heidelberg and since 2005 at the RWTH Aachen. From 2008 to 2009 he was a Senior Lecturer at the School for Education at Murdoch University in Perth , Western Australia.

In 2009, Wosnitza was appointed professor for educational science with a focus on school pedagogy and empirical educational research at RWTH Aachen University. In 2011 he was acting managing director at the Institute for Education and from 2014 to 2018 Vice Dean for Research and Young Talent at the Philosophical Faculty. He has also been Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University in Perth since 2009 . His main research interests are: motivation and emotion , cooperative learning and working, teacher motivation and teacher resilience as well as self-assessment .

politics

On September 30 and October 14, 2018, the university professor ran as candidate for mayor against mayor Christian Gauf (CDU). Wosnitza got 42.7 percent of the vote with five competitors in the first election. However, the outcome of the runoff election was considered open, as the four losing applicants had voted for Gauf. Wosnitza also won the runoff election with 56.1 percent of the vote. Above all, he brings experience from university politics to his office, as he never sat on the city ​​council of his hometown. He took office on December 20 of that year.
