Poem by Hollenweger on the Feldberger Dichterwegli

Paula Hollenweger (born October 3, 1900 in Feldberg (Müllheim) ; † October 22, 1980 there ) was a South Baden dialect poet and local researcher .

Life

Although her linguistic talents were discovered in her youth, Hollenweger was accordingly denied a career as a poet of the time. After her marriage to the farmer Wilhelm Kromer in 1921, she used her free time in the evenings to continue working on her poetic skills. After her husband died in an accident in 1945, she was solely responsible for her two daughters and the farm, which forced her to gradually give up the farm. She used her newly gained time to research her family, the place and of course the Markgräfler dialect. It was not until twenty years later that her first volume of poetry, "Markgräflerland, du Land am Rhii", appeared, which, however, received great praise from readers and critics. Further publications followed. Later she reported on her studies of local history also publicly in broadcasts of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk Stuttgart. She passed away less than three weeks after her 80th birthday.

After her death

Commemorations were held on the 10th and 20th anniversary of her death. In addition, her grandson Hans-Dieter Schmid opened the Feldberger Dichterwegli on the 20th anniversary of her death .
