from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paullus Fabius Persicus was a Roman senator in the early Imperial period.

Paullus Fabius Persicus came from the old patrician Fabians who, along with the Aemilians , Claudians , Cornelians and Valerians, belonged to the five great houses of the Roman patriciate. He was the son of the consul in 11 BC. BC, Paullus Fabius Maximus , and the Marcia, daughter of Lucius Marcius Philippus , a cousin of Augustus .

Paullus Fabius Persicus was born around 1 AD. In accordance with his high parentage, he was co-opted into the noble priesthood of the Arval Brothers as the successor to his father in the year 15 . He became Quaestor Augusti of the Emperor Tiberius and at the earliest possible point in time (a minimum age of 33 years was required for patricians) in the year 34 ordinary consul for the period from January 1st to June 30th. Probably 43/44 he was proconsul of the province of Asia and, at the instigation of the emperor Claudius, settled grievances in the financial administration of Artemision and the city of Ephesus .

Under the emperor Claudius , Paullus Fabius was chairman of the curators for the regulation of the Tiber (curatores ripae et alvei Tiberis) . The emperor mentioned him in his inscribed speech about the occupation of offices by Gauls. He also held the priesthood of a sodalis Augustalis and a pontiff .

According to Seneca , Paullus Fabius Persicus is said to have led a dissolute life. Since he has not appeared in the files of the Arval brothers since 55 AD, he must have died around this time.
