Jorge Paulo dos Santos Futre (born February 28, 1966 in Montijo , Portugal ) is a former Portuguese football player . He is commonly known as the Futre . The strong dribbling striker was under contract with numerous international clubs.

Futre comes from the youth of Sporting Lisbon and received his first professional contract there in 1983. In 1984 he moved to FC Porto and won the European Cup in 1987 with the club, along with numerous national titles . In the following season, Futre moved to Atlético Madrid for a high fee . After further international engagements at Benfica Lisbon , Olympique Marseille , AC Reggiana , AC Milan , West Ham United and the Yokohama Marinos , he ended his active career in 1999. Since then he was u. a. worked as technical director at Atlético Madrid.

Futre played a total of 41 times for the Portuguese national soccer team between 1983 and 1995 , scoring six goals.
