Paulus van dem Velde

Paulus van dem Velde , also Paul vamme Velde (* in Lübeck ; † August 2, 1529 ibid) was a German lawyer, secretary of the Hanseatic office in Bruges and council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Paulus van dem Velde studied from October 1494 at the University of Rostock and received his bachelor's degree there in 1498 . Since 1511 he has been a master and secretary of the Hanseatic Office in Bruges . In 1516 he was appointed council secretary in Lübeck. Coming from Bruges , he assumed this position at Easter 1517. After unsuccessful efforts to obtain a small prebend at Lübeck Cathedral, in 1528 he was awarded by Bishop Heinrich III. Bockholt a great prebende and thereby became canon of the Lübeck cathedral chapter . He died on the same day as his colleague, the Lübeck council secretary Bartramus de Rentelen of the English sweat , which spread as an epidemic from England in 1529 via Hamburg in northern Germany.
