Pavel consolation
Pavel Trost (born October 3, 1907 in Sternberg , † January 6, 1987 in Prague ) was a Czech linguist and literary scholar.
Trost studied at the University of Brno with professors Oldřich Hujer , Beer and Jarník. In Prague he studied linguistics with Friedrich Slotty , obtained his doctorate in 1933 and was a member of the Prague linguistic circle. After that he worked at the Brno University Library . From 1948 to 1956 he worked at the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc , where he completed his habilitation in 1949 and was appointed lecturer in 1951.
In 1956 he returned to the Charles University in Prague , where he became professor for Indo-European linguistics and Baltic philology in 1961 .
From 1967, Trost was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen .
