Pavlos Economou-Gouras

Pavlos Economou-Gouras ( Greek Παύλος Οικονόμου-Γκούρας , born November 3, 1897 in Goura , Korinthia ; † April 27, 1991 ) was a Greek diplomat and politician.

Biographical data

Paul Economou Gouras graduated from the  National and Kapodistrian University of Athens . In 1921 he joined the foreign service. From October 6, 1942 to June 3, 1947 he was chargé d'affaires of the Greek government in Washington, DC He then headed the embassies in Rio de Janeiro ( Brazil ) and Cape Town (South Africa). From 1960 to 1961 he was the permanent representative of the Greek government United Nations Headquarters in New York City . From 1963 to November 3, 1967 he was Greek Foreign Minister three times , in the governments of Stylianos Mavromichalis , Ioannis Paraskevopoulos and during the Greek military dictatorship under Konstantinos Kollias . On April 30, 1991, he was buried at the Temple of Saint Theodoros in the First Athens Cemetery .
