The PaX AG is a German manufacturer of windows and doors made of aluminum, wood, aluminum, plastic, and metal and plastic. The company employed around 550 people in 2016 and was most recently planning a turnover of around 60 million euros. Production facilities are located in Bad Lausick , Hermeskeil , Rositz and Frimmersdorf .

history

In 1984 the Ingelheim entrepreneurial family Struth took over Schweikhard GmbH in Ingelheim am Rhein. The company emerged from a wagon factory and produced plastic windows that were installed under their own direction in the Rhine-Main area. Fritz Struth became the managing director. The aim was to restructure the company from a regional direct marketer to a nationwide window manufacturer with its own dealer network. The company was renamed PaX GmbH as part of the realignment.

In 1989, PaX was one of the first companies to manufacture “on-line” windows. An important feature of PaX windows are special components for burglar resistance: PaX has been manufacturing security windows since 1989 and sells them under the trade name “PaXsecura”. In 1995, the first series production of security windows tested according to standards was put into operation at the Hermeskeil plant.

The former Austrian subsidiary PaX Stabil was founded in 1978 as Stabil Kunststoffwerke GmbH at its current location. From 1982 cellar windows and insulating glass were also manufactured. In 1984 special living space elements followed. Wooden windows have also been produced since 1988, and PVC-aluminum windows since 1992. In 2003 the company was awarded the state coat of arms.

In 2001 PaX GmbH filed for bankruptcy. On June 1, 2001, PaX AG (share capital: DM 2.2 million) emerged from the insolvency proceedings.

In 2003, PaX AG took over Alpha Fenstertechnik in Löbnitz, and on April 1, 2014 the operative window and door business from the Austrian Stabil Bauelemente GmbH, which belonged to the Haas Group. This had to file for bankruptcy on October 20, 2015. A bankruptcy petition was also filed in October 2015 against PaX Stabil GmbH in Gabersdorf (Austria), which was already part of the AG.

The company's founder Fritz Struth died on May 26th, 2017. The ownership structure has not changed, the Struth family remains the largest shareholder.

Products

PaX manufactures windows in aluminum, wood, wood-aluminum, plastic and plastic-aluminum. The company manufactures doors from wood, aluminum, plastic, plastic-aluminum and wood-aluminum. One focus in production is security equipment, which is offered under the name "PaXsecura". In addition, PaX manufactures historicizing windows in the Bad Lausick and Vestenbergsgreuth woodworks, which are used specifically for the renovation of listed buildings.

In 1996, PaX was the first manufacturer on the list of manufacturers for "Approved burglar-resistant windows" from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.

Group structure

The head office is still located in Ingelheim today. The former plant in Ingelheim was sold during the company's insolvency. Since then the company has had five production sites in Germany:

  • PaX Classic GmbH, Bad Lausick
  • PaX window Hermeskeil GmbH, Hermeskeil
  • PaX Windows Rositz GmbH / PaX Doors Rositz GmbH, Rositz
  • PaXoptima GmbH, Vestenbergsgreuth
  • Alpha Fenstertechnik GmbH, Löbnitz

The plant in Rositz is located on the site of the former Rositz sugar factory , which in the GDR belonged to the "VEB Zuckerfabrik Delitzsch ". Because of the exemplary renovation, PaX received the Thuringian Monument Protection Prize from the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture in 1995.

measure up

Every two years, PaX organizes the manufacturer-independent symposium “Windows in the Architectural Monument”, which takes place as part of the supporting program of the Leipzig “denkmal Messe”. In the aftermath of this event, the Berlin Lukas Verlag will publish conference volumes in which the expert presentations are documented. Seven volumes have been published since 1996.
