Peccatum ( lat. Sin ) was a dark metal band from Norway . Their influences range from black metal , progressive metal , symphonic metal and gothic metal to classical and opera .

biography

Peccatum was founded in 1998 by the singer Ihriel (Heidi Solberg Tveitan), her husband Ihsahn ( Thou Shalt Suffer , Emperor ), and her brother Lord PZ. On the EP Oh, My Regrets (2000) they were also supported by Per Eriksen (Nøkken), Trond Villa ( Folque ) and Helene Vaage, from Eriksen also on the album Amor Fati . After Lord PZ left (2004), the band's sound also changed. The album Lost in Reverie , recorded with the drummer Knut Aalefjær (Helge Lien Trio, Moments Notice) and the singer Einar Solberg, is much more avant-garde than the previous albums.

Lost in Reverie and the 2005 EP The Moribund People , on which Jarle Havrås (The Boots Band) helped out as drummer, were both produced under the Mnemosyne Productions label , owned and run by Ihriel and Ihsahn. The band split up in the summer of 2006, however, because Ihsahn wanted to focus on the Emperor reunion and on his solo career.
