Pedra da Escrita
The rock carvings of Pedra da Escrita ( German "stones described" ) are located in the Beira Alta in central Portugal , about 20 km (as the crow flies) northwest of Viseu , in Serrazes on the eastern outskirts of Freixo , at the beginning of Rua da Buzide .
You are on a granite block about 2.5 m high and 2.0 m wide, the east-facing cleft surface is decorated with concentric circles, rectangles , small bowls of stylized human figures and right-angled hatching. According to stylistic criteria, this art is dated to the late Bronze Age (10th century BC). The rock is protected by a roof and is signposted on the road.
