Pedro María Artola Urrutia (born September 6, 1948 in Andoain , Province of Gipuzkoa ) is a former Spanish football player .

Player career

Artola began his goalkeeping career with the second team of Real Sociedad San Sebastián in 1967. In 1973 he joined the first team and stayed there for two years before moving to the Spanish club FC Barcelona . In nine years in Catalonia , the Basque won the Spanish Cup three times and the Spanish Supercup once. He also won the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1978/79 season in the final against Fortuna Düsseldorf . Artola was able to repeat this success, this time as a substitute goalkeeper, in the 1981/82 season . In 1978 he was named the best goalie in the Spanish league. Artola ended his career in 1984

Internationally he never played for the Spanish national team, but was a substitute goalkeeper at the 1980 European Football Championship in Italy . Spain were eliminated in the group stage as bottom group.
