Pedroso is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in northwestern Portugal .
Pedroso belongs to the Vila Nova de Gaia district in the Porto district . The community had an area of 19.4 km² and 18,781 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Pedroso and Seixezelo were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Pedroso e Seixezelo .
