Pefferschöffskapelle in Wimbach

The Catholic Pefferschöffskapelle in Wimbach , a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rheinland-Pfalz ), was probably built in 1810 and is located in an alley, which removes from the main road.

history

The chapel , which is now a listed building , was built in 1810 if you follow the year marked on the lintel. Located in the lower village, three steps lead to the wood-framed entrance door. The door frame and the wooden window frames are painted blood red and an old basalt lava cross is embedded in the masonry above the entrance . The rather strange name is said to have been derived from the village of Schöffen Peffer, who lived near the chapel in the 19th century.

During the renovation in 1977, the hall received a new interior and exterior plaster and the altar and benches were renewed. There has always been a roof turret on the roof , in which the little bell is located.
