Pekka Johansson
Pekka Johansson (actually: Paavo Johansson-Jaale ; born October 21, 1895 in Helsinki ; † December 5, 1983 ibid) was a Finnish javelin thrower who was successful in the early 1920s. He participated in two Olympic Games and won a bronze medal.
- At the Games in Antwerp in 1920 he threw 63.09 m in qualification and was second behind his compatriot Urho Peltonen , who had achieved 63.50 m. In the final, however, only the third Finn, Jonni Myyrä , could improve. With a victory distance of 65.78 m, Myyrä missed its own world record by only 32 cm. Peltonen and Johansson came in second and third with their performances from qualifying.
- Four years later, at the 1924 Games in Paris, things didn't go so well for Johansson. With 55.10 m he finished the qualification in eighth place. He would have had to throw a good meter further to take part in the finals, as the sixth and last of the permitted throwers, his compatriot Yrjö Ekqvist , had reached 56.15 m.
Nothing is known about Pekka Johansson's results at the Finnish national championships.
