The Pelican Lake is a lake in Kenora District in the southwest of the Canadian province of Ontario .

The lake is part of a chain of lakes traversed by the English River, which, in addition to Pelican Lake, also includes the upstream lakes Minnitaki Lake and Abram Lake . The catchment area of Pelican Lake covers more than 14,000 km².

Pelican Lake is fed by Abram Lake to the south via the Frog Rapids Narrows . The Ontario Highway 72 crosses the English River at this point. Another tributary is the 6 km long outflow of Big Vermilion Lake to the west . The center of Sioux Lookout is on the east bank of Pelican Lake . The Canadian National Railway's main transcontinental railroad bridge crosses the lake north of Sioux Lookout. The Pelican railway stop is on the shores of the northwestern part of the lake. The water of the lake flows over the Pelican Falls to the Lost Lake in the north .

The following species of fish are caught in the Minnitaki-Abram-Pelican-Botsford lake system: eyeglasses , Canadian pikeperch , trout and black bass , pike , muscle lung , American perch , sunfish , American char and herring whitefish . The catch of the sea ​​sturgeon is prohibited all year round.
