English River (Winnipeg River)
The English River ( French Rivière English ) is a river in the Kenora District in central western Ontario ( Canada ).
It flows through the lake Lac Seul , which is dammed at Ear Falls . Another tributary of Lac Seul is the Vermilion River . The English River continues to flow west, taking in the Wabigoon River and finally flowing into the Winnipeg River near the provincial border with Manitoba . The West English River Provincial Park is located along the river running between Manitou Falls and the mouth of the Wabigoon River. The Ojibway - Reserves Lac Seul , English River and Islington are located along the river of the English River.

The Lake of the Woods Control Board controls runoff throughout the Winnipeg River basin. This also includes the English River and its tributaries. Since 1957, 2.68 km³ of water has been diverted annually from Lake St. Joseph , which lies in the catchment area of the Albany River and James Bay , to Lac Seul and the English River.
